Lessons from an encounter by Prince Boamah Abrah, Ph.D.

Introduction

Dearly beloved, we serve a mysterious God who speaks in several ways.

I have had several encounters. One of which includes an experience with a stranger. This was how it happened:

Before I went to bed one Friday night, I had a strong urge to pray against contending forces working to destroy my life and destiny. On Saturday, I set off to our project site very early in the morning. While the workers were about to finish the project, I realized the materials they were using were not enough so I decided to rush to the nearby town to purchase additional building materials but the workers asked me to wait until they finally run out of what they had.

On our way to purchase the items, I was low on cash and had to cash out some money. We got to a MoMo agent to help us out with our transaction. While waiting to complete the transactions, I raised my head only to see a man by the right side of my car close to where I sat. He looked straight into my eyes and started prophesying.

He said many things about my life which were true, one which struck me the most was the exact word I received the previous night. He introduced himself as Isa, but when I told him I was a Christian. He further added; “Don’t you know God can use any medium to communicate His message to His people? He then requested money to cancel the bad omen.

Lessons From the Encounter

I learned a few lessons worth sharing.

Was the waiting necessary?.

Why was the mystery revealed to this man?

Was he a prophet?

Why did he ask for money before helping me out of the situation?

The four key points worth noting are:

Revelations, Dreams and, Visions
The Set Time
The Prophet
Money.

I. Revelations, Dreams, and Visions

As indicated earlier on, God uses different means and mediums such as prophecy, dreams, revelations, signs, wonders, or the word of God to reveal His mind and mysteries and sometimes speaks to our hearts.

II. The Set Time

A Series of events unfold within space and time through which we see the physical demonstration of God’s power and sovereignty on Earth. God has an appointed time where He steps into our difficult situations (Isaiah 60:22) and orders our steps (Ephesians 3:3), every time, we need to be very sensitive and discerning enough to know His timing.

In the story I shared, the
workers’ caution indicates that if I had not listened to them, I may have missed this encounter.

III. The Prophet

Prophets are the mouthpiece and vessels used by God to speak to His people. We have the true and false prophets (Matthew 24:24). All we need is divine wisdom, knowledge, and the spirit of discernment to identify the true and false prophets. – by their fruits, we shall know them (Matt 7:15-20).

IV. Money

There seems to be a question mark when people sell the gift of God, which is given freely. We cannot buy the gift(s) of God (Acts 8: 20), In the Bible, it is written that a man received gifting of the Holy Spirit according to God’s GRACE (Romans 12:6).

Should we charge money when operating with these gifts or should money be the conditionality? There is nothing wrong if the person appreciates your kind gesture after your act of service. As servants of God, we shouldn’t compel people to give us money before we prophesy or speak into their lives.

Prayer

Mysterious God, I honor Your Holy Name for your miraculous deeds within Your set time. I pray for divine encounters which set me to accomplish Your will and purpose in my life.
Father, please lead me to the right people, grant me a discerning heart, and disconnect me from destiny killers in Jesus’ mighty name.
